A new concept piece i\'ve been working on. Due to certain circumstances, I guess i\'ll be leaving the scene for this.

Background:
This is a planet, very similar to earth (but much smaller), with the civilization etched into the depths of the ground, considering that the atmosphere above has constant thunderstorms, and is just completely deserted.
The openings in the surface have been created by beings as old as the planet itself. Reaching down miles and miles, it is inhabited fully with a very advanced civilization of humans.

Notes:
Started off from a few thumbs. Here are the thumbs i did (startined in B&W and then overlayed with color):

Remarks:
I am really not pleased with the outcome of the piece. My first intention was in the thumb, but hoped that it would evolve into something more appeasing. As of now, the clouds are off perspective, along with some other things. The lighting is also off, since I used no reference for colors, values, or the clouds. Perhaps I should start to do that!

An interesting light play. Even with perspective and lighting flaw (as you mentioned) this is still a wonderful attempt with an intruging ideal. Besides... studying your brushwork is aiding me in this area of digital work. ;)

excellent pic, i really like the scale in this image. my only suggestion is to move the sun lower in the horizon so it isn't squeezed between the clouds and the ground.

You have beautiful clouds in this piece :+fav:
